6 years agoA great place for a quick relaxation or sit down. Complimentary hot chocolate, tea, coffee, and water. It also has a great chalk wall for my toddler to draw on when we visit and coloring books. My family is very appreciative of the Liberty Lounge. It is very well marked for military members and their guests and the sign is worded clearly that it is for veterans, reservists, and active duty.

9 years agoMy wife mentioned that, with our paid, military discount admission to the park, we also received complimentary access to something called the "Liberty Lounge" for military veterans. I'd never heard of it before. We spent a good amount of time in the rest of the park and then noticed the sign for the lounge so we stopped in. What an oasis! Temp outside was in the 90s and humid. This place was cool and comfortable. If it was only for that, I'd say it was a worthwhile stop just to rest for a bit and have a cold glass of water. The real treat for this stop however, is the warm welcome you will receive as a military veteran. There were many friendly volunteers present to answer your every call for whatever you'd like to be comfortable during your visit. I soon found a vacant rocking chair and struck up a conversation with a very nice lady who was helping with the excellent coffee station they offered. She shared stories of her childhood, growing up in the Yorktown area and also those of her life with her husband who was a Naval aviator. This was easily the best part of my visit to the lounge. I'm a 20 year Army veteran, now retired for 7 years. As the years go on since my separation from active duty, my wife and I find it more and more difficult to find people with whom we can share and relive the our peculiar military lifestyles. If you're a veteran, then you know what I mean. It was very nice to be in an environment where talking about the "old days" with a new friend who'd experienced similar things was welcomed and encouraged. I understood this lounge was made possible by a grant from the Home Depot in cooperation with the park. Thank you very much for offering such a wonderful place for veterans to meet, relax and recharge!

7 years agoThe Liberty Lounge is an amazing place to have a nice sit down and relax. My family and I stop in everytime we go to Colonial Williamsburg to walk and visit. They have the cleanest bathrooms also! Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and water are all at the ready for military affiliated families. The wonderful historical military photos and challenge coins are a must look at while there. Next time we are there I'll be dropping off a couple Seabee challenge coins too! Thank you guys for all you do!

year agoGreat experience! We had a former Marine helo pilot check us in and a great hostess (Pat) get us a coffee and cookies. If you are military or former military and looking for fellowship, this is a mandatory stop.

year agoA wonderful place for Active duty and veterans to relax in Colonial Williamsburg Colonial Williamsburg is a living-history museum presenting a part of the historic district in the city of Williamsburg, Virginia as it was in the past with period people and the buildings as they would have been. You can drive and park in one of the many parking lots and visit for free by just walking around. If you want to get the most out of your tour you can visit the Visitors’ center located about ½ mile away or visit the Lumber house and buy a ticket that allows you access to more of the shops and sites inside the town. There is a lot to see in the city whether you have a ticket or just want to walk around. A hidden treasure that I found while walking the city on my journey of discovery was the Liberty Lounge. This is on the north side of the E Duke of Goucester street. It is in the building to the west of the Silversmith shop. You have to walk next to the building as the entry for the lounge is on the side farthest from the street. If you are active duty military or a veteran they offer free snacks or drinks like tea. If you happen to have a coin from your unit, that would be nice as they have a good collection and can always use more. There is a sign-in book. The staff was very nice, pleasant and helpful. It consists of 2 rooms with lots of memorabilia and sitting areas. It is a very nice place to relax if you are visiting the city on a cold or hot day.

year agoGreat respite on a hot day. Cold water, hot coffee, clean restrooms and a warm smile! It doesn’t get any better for a serviceman than that! The last picture is James MacDonald who won a cycle racing award—-connection is that his wife is with my wife who is also pictured all three are Vets!

2 weeks agoThe Liberty Lounge at Colonial Williamsburg offers a warm and inviting environment that provides a pleasant place to pause during a day in the Historic Area. The staff were friendly and polite, helping to create a welcoming atmosphere. The coffee was good and made for a nice break. The military memorabilia on display added interesting historical context and character to the space. The restroom was clean and operational. However, the water fountain being broken was a noticeable drawback in an otherwise comfortable and well-intentioned space.
